Hey Hey, it's another day!
Yeah, I wrote this one when I was roaming as a free bird figuring out what my next chapter in life would be about. This song is about self reflection, and being kinda bored with the status quo...
Like most of the songs on here, when I got around to recording them... I didn't have very good equipment as a studio is concerned, in fact... I had a cheap computer condenser microphone, so I never got the vocal quality I was looking for... but I don't think it takes away from the song.
I used to live in Willimantic Connecticut which has a large Puerto Rican population, and I used to play this song on my porch along with other songs I've written when practicing. I'll never forget this old Puerto Rican lady, who couldn't speak much english singing this song's chorus all the time with her thick accent.
What a compliment to overhear someone you don't even know, who doesn't even know what the words mean, singing your music to muse themselves!
Awe.... this is a great song to sing when courting.. you just have to remember to change the line with the "eye color" in it to match your be-troth's !
Now this recording (have two here) - is without the words... Maybe I'll get that version recorded someday. But get this, I recorded this using a condenser microphone, and some software tohat allowed me to play a solo along with my previously recorded rythem track. The funny thing is there was lag or latency... so even though I played the notes in time etc.. there is this slight timing thing... that for the most part kinda sounds neat.
If you like pretty acoustic guitar.. this is somewhere in that genre, and it's kind of short.
Ok - this piece is not finished per say but it has something I like and bits I don't... It's a cross between musical phrases from the Inspector Gadget Cartoon (hence its name) as well as some Dr. Who music theme sounds kinda..
I made this, I enjoyed making it and playing it.. I just wish I had the right equipment to fully realize where I was trying to go with it. So, feel free to have a listen...
Oh, and I do know that the guitar solo at the end has one strikingly BAD note... but I liked the rest of the solo enough it made the take... (with plans to revisit) ... as you can see I haven't got around to it yet
County Jail is plain funny - and I can't take all the Credit. I came up with the music but all the ideas in it came from a night of pool, beer and laughs with my buddy Jeff B.
See Jeff had a little experience getting into trouble as a juvenile, and he spent a little time incarcerated. Well, we took some facts, added some salt and creative liberties... and came up with this!
I always smile when I hear this song, and my favorite time performing it live was in a bar that, unknown to me, was a state police hang out... they in particular were in hysterics as the song played through - it was a lot of fun.
Dark Vein is an attempt at making theme music which I just find fascinating. Like for movies, or plays... no lyrics... well this one attempts to come off with a dark sound mixing some orchestral music with some distorted electric guitar.
This definitely isn't the type of piece you'd rock out to in a club... but it is interesting just the same.
